I Can't Access Copilot Pro For Student

My GitHub Student Developer Pack was recently approved and verified (active until May 16, 2028). However, my GitHub Copilot access is stuck on the standard "Free" tier with monthly usage limits for code completions and chat messages, rather than the unlimited student access.

What I have checked so far:

My Education Benefits page confirms my student coupon is applied and active.

I clicked the direct link to redeem Copilot from the benefits dashboard.

I have tried signing out and back into my IDE.

I noticed the alert mentioning that "New sign-ups for GitHub Copilot Pro, Pro+, and Student plans are paused." >
Could you confirm if my account is stuck on the Free tier because of this current pause? If so, is there an estimated timeline for when student activations will resume? If the pause does not apply to already-verified education accounts, could someone help manually sync my license?

I guess that the "New sign-ups for GitHub Copilot Pro, Pro+, and Student plans are paused." alert has nothing to do something with it.

It's best to contact the github support.
Let's just say they could really help you out. ( I hope so 😄 )

Also in Billing Settings, you need to complete the address. Github requires this for copilot, even for free student plans. You don’t need to add a credit card, but the name and address fields must be filled out.

Cheking github changelog could help you to see real‑time updates.

We have provided more details about changes to Copilot Individual Plans in this discussion and  this discussion, which may be updated if new information becomes available.

From the FAQ:

10. I'm newly eligible for Copilot Student but have never activated it. Can I sign up now?
    At this time, new activations of Copilot Student, Pro, and Pro+ are paused.

Your GitHub Education verification is active and has not been removed. The pause affects the ability to activate Copilot Student or a Copilot paid plan. When signups resume, you will be able to activate the Education benefit if you are still eligible. In the meantime, Copilot Free remains available for signups.

We do not have an estimated timeframe to share yet for when the pause will end. Updates will be posted in the linked discussion posts.
