Hi GitHub Community / GitHub Support,

I am following up regarding ticket #4411615.

Ticket information:

• Ticket ID: 4411615
• Current GitHub username: tuyenda2011
• GitHub Education status: Verified
• Education benefits active until: May 20, 2028
• Issue: Copilot Student benefit is not active on my verified student account

My current GitHub account, tuyenda2011, is already verified for GitHub Education, and my Education benefits show as active until May 20, 2028. However, GitHub Copilot still shows the “Copilot Free” plan instead of the student Copilot benefit.

Previously, GitHub Support helped release/remove my academic email and Education benefits from my old inaccessible account, which was locked due to 2FA issues, so I could apply again using my current account. I have now successfully verified GitHub Education on the current account.

I have already tried:

• Signing out and signing back in
• Clearing browser cache and cookies
• Using incognito/private browsing mode
• Accessing Copilot through the GitHub Education benefits page
• Checking the Copilot settings page again after verification
• Checking my billing/plan settings

Could someone please help check whether my Copilot Student entitlement is stuck, not synced, or still associated with my previous account?

We have provided more details about changes to Copilot Individual Plans in this discussion and  this discussion, which may be updated if new information becomes available.

From the FAQ:

10. I'm newly eligible for Copilot Student but have never activated it. Can I sign up now?
    At this time, new activations of Copilot Student, Pro, and Pro+ are paused.

Your GitHub Education verification is active and has not been removed. The pause affects the ability to activate Copilot Student or a Copilot paid plan. When signups resume, you will be able to activate the Education benefit if you are still eligible. In the meantime, Copilot Free remains available for signups.

We do not have an estimated timeframe to share yet for when the pause will end. Updates will be posted in the linked discussion posts.
